- Some children receive almost no encouragement from their parents regarding their performance at school, while other children receive too much pressure from their over enthusiastic parents which can have a negative impact on the child.
– Why do you think some parents put too much pressure on their children to perform well at school?
There are many reasons…Maybe because they have high expectations, they want their child to succeed in life which can also be harmful for the child. Or I think it’s because they see their child as an extension of themselves and want them to achieve the things they weren’t able to. It also might be social expectations…Society often puts pressure on parents to have successful children that get into good schools and get high paying jobs. Some parents may feel obligated to put pressure on their children to meet these expectations, even if it is not what their child wants. Also some parents lack understanding, they may not see the pressure their child faces in school.
– What do you think the role of a parent should be in their child`s education?
It’s important for parents to provide a safe and supportive environment for their child to learn, grow, and develop. Parents can encourage their child to explore their interests and curiosities, which can help them develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. It is important for parents to recognize that their child is a unique individual and may have different needs and learning styles. Parents should work with their child’s teachers and school staff to understand their child’s strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles.
